Ryan is a health economist, and has worked in FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research for more than a decade. He researches pharmaceutical policy, with a focus on the relationships between generic drug competition, pricing, savings, and access. His work is published in medical, economics, and policy journals, and is often cited in official FDA statements, legal briefings, and by the popular press.
Prior to joining FDA, Ryan was a postdoctoral fellow at UCLA and RAND, and a visiting scholar at USC’s Schaefer Center for Health Policy and Economics. He holds a BA in mathematics from Case Western Reserve University and a PhD in economics from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
