Mary jo Carden is a pharmacist, attorney, and health care policy expert with more than 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical reimbursement, health policy, and regulatory affairs. She has held senior leadership positions with Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, and Medco Health Solutions, as well as leading her own health care policy and advocacy firm.
Ms. Carden’s expertise includes pharmaceutical reimbursement, Medicare and Medicaid, pharmacy benefit management, managed care, generics and biosimilars, specialty pharmacy, and federal and state health care policy. At Sandoz, she led policy initiatives for the company’s generics and biosimilars businesses, including policies involving Medicare, Medicaid, 340B, commercial reimbursement, and biosimilar adoption. She is a licensed pharmacist in Virginia and attorney in Maryland and has also served as an adjunct professor of pharmacy. She holds a Juris Doctor degree from Catholic University and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from University of Pittsburgh.
