Gwen Volpe, RPh, Executive MBA, LSSBB, DPLA, FASHP, serves as Senior Director of Medication Technology Programs and Strategic Partnerships at Fresenius Kabi. In this role, she cultivates high-impact collaborations, drives initiatives to advance product safety and efficiency through technology, and champions customer advocacy and industry thought leadership.
Gwen’s pharmacy career spans more than 30 years of diverse healthcare experience. Prior to her nine years of progressive leadership and escalating responsibility in the pharmaceutical industry, she spent nearly a decade in the medication automation technology sector. She began her career as a practicing pharmacist, quickly moving into progressive leadership roles across hospital, retail, and long-term care pharmacy environments. A recognized industry voice, she is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences, a regular media contributor interviewed for numerous healthcare publications, and a collaborative author of peer-reviewed journal articles alongside multidisciplinary clinical teams.
She is highly active in shaping global healthcare standards, serving on the RAIN Alliance Board of Directors, the GS1 US Healthcare Executive Leadership Committee, the Thriv Coalition Advisory Board for IV Accuracy, and the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF) Priority Advisory Group for Medication Safety. Within the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), she maintains an active leadership presence, serving on the Section Advisory Group for Operations and Automation as well as the Section of Informatics and Technology.
Gwen is an ASHP Fellow, recipient of the 2022 ASHP Distinguished Service Award, and was honored with the 2023 AIM Paul Bergé International Business Award for her global advocacy of RFID technology in healthcare.
